DIY Paper Pom-Poms
Posted by Aine on 16th Feb 2016
At the end of January all of the staff at Vibes and Scribes were working on making decorations for the Cork Business Association annual dinner event.
We made everything from paper flower wreaths to table runners and tie backs, all using supplies from the shop. If you are interested in adding a personal touch to any of your own party decorations, all of these were very simple to make and we will be posting tutorials on each one.
This tutorial will show you how to make these tissue paper pom poms:
You will need:
- tissue paper
- beading wire
- spool of clear nylon thread
Each 10 sheet pack of tissue paper will make 1 pom pom.
First, cut your 10 sheets of tissue paper in half, then place all 20 sheets on top of each other. The more paper layers you have, the fuller your pom pom will look.
Next, make accordion folds in the tissue paper and make sure they are pressed flat. Then secure the middle of your paper with the beading wire. You can also attach a length of nylon thread to the middle so that you can hang your pom pom.
Open out the folds at both sides of the paper and separate each layer one by one. Once you have unfolded one side, turn over the pom pom and do the same on the other side, being careful not to rip the paper.
When you have separated all of the layers of paper, your pom pom is complete!
These are a quick and easy decoration to make and can be made in all different sizes and colours.
