Needle Felted Toadstool Garland - Step by Step Guide

Make a beautiful garland from small needle-felted toadstools. Use merino felting wool and felt small toadstools using a felting needle. The finished toadstools are hung on a long piece of jute twine in a matching red colour! A cute decoration for your home or a gift!

*Felting needles are barbed in order for them to be able to felt the wool. This causes the needles to be weaker at these points. You can expect your needles to break when you are learning to felt - this is part of the learning process!

Step by Step

Step 1.

Tear a long piece of your white felting wool and roll it tightly together to for the basis of your toadstool.

Step 2.

Needle felt the toadstool's stalk until it is dense and hard.

To needle felt, press the felting needle into the wool and remove it repeatedly.

Step 3.

Shape some red felting wool to create the toadstool's cap and needle felt this until it is dense and hard.

Step 4.

Needle felt small tufts of white felting wool to small balls and needle felt them onto the cap as shown in the photo.

Step 5.

Place the cap of the toadstool onto the base.

Hold in place and felt the finished cap onto the stalk.

Step 6.

Using a hand needle, sew a piece of thin twine through the toadstool for hanging.

Attach the toadstools to a longer string to form the garland.
