Once in a while comes a collection of photographs that have the power to alter and broaden our perceptions of a particular time. This first collection of the photographs of TW Murphy is just such a collection opening a window on the years between 1909 and 1916, book-ended by the Royal visit of King George V and the terrible destruction that was the aftermath of the Sinn Fein Rising in Dublin.
TW Murphy's was truly an eclectic eye and recorded much that was different and unexpected, often with humour. His photographs serve to give us a better understanding of a time when great contrasts existed in his native Ireland.
