Contents: Paper strips, sequins, pom-poms, Sticky Base, EVA foam self-adhesive circles and wiggly eyes. Pattern sheet on the inside of the packaging..
Materials kit to make a funny clown with a toilet roll body and springy arms and legs made from strips of folded paper. The packaging is also used to make the clown. Add your own empty toilet roll. Instructions included.
In addition to the materials in the kit, you will also need the tube from a toilet roll and a pair of scissors. Start by making the clown's body by mixing and kneading the Sticky Base and sequins together into a sticky mass, which you can then use to cover one half of the toilet roll. Then cut out the clown's hat, bow tie and cheeks, which are illustrated on the inside of the packaging. Use Sticky Base to stick the parts to the tube. Fold the paper strips using the accordion paper folding technique and glue them onto the 'body' to make the clown's arms and legs. Finally, decorate the clown with wiggly eyes, a glitter EVA foam nose and three pom-poms, one on the top of the hat and one on either leg to make feet/shoes..
The idea behind this kit/material set is to inspire children to 'get creative with recycling' and reuse empty packaging, both from their home (such as toilet rolls, milk cartons, egg boxes etc.) and the set's own packaging, and use their creativity and imaginations to transform the 'waste' into fun figures. Through the creative process and subsequent play, this kit provides the perfect opportunity to talk and learn about how we can recycle. The children learn that by being creative and using your imagination, you can transform ordinary household waste and basic crafting materials into new things, including fantastic figures, toys and so on. This inspires children to see things in new ways and continue to reuse other items creatively rather than throwing them away.
