Níl aon dabht ach gur mhinic cogaíocht, ár agus sléacht le fáil i stair na hÉireann, agus is iomaí scéal ar a léithéid. Ach bhíodar ann i gcónaí a mhol slí eile don tír, slí na síochána. Má bhí uaireanta ann nár tugadh cluas dóibh, agus más annamh a dheineadh mar a mhol siad, sheas siad fód na síochána ainneoinn na n-ainneoin, ag dearbhú gurbh fhearr réiteach neamhfhoréigneach ar fhadhbanna an tsaoil ná dul i ndeabhaidh lainne.

There is no doubt that there have been many wars, wars and battles in the history of Ireland, and there are many stories about them. But there were always those who suggested another way for the country, the way of peace. If there were times when they were not listened to, and if rarely what they suggested was done, they stood for peace despite the odds, declaring that a non-violent solution to life’s problems was better than getting into trouble.
