Description

The Gurranabraher Story is the story of those who came from the rat infested and squalid laneways of Ireland's Rebel City of Cork in the 1930's to the new housing estate of Gurranabraher on the hills to the northwest of the city. Many were living in abject poverty and tuberculosis was the main cause of infant mortality in the city.
Told in their own words and with historical photographs this book describes their struggle against the odds to provide a bright future for themselves and those coming after them. It is a tale of the resilience, determination community spirit and a unique sense of humour and optimism which is epitomised in their motto:
"
All For One And One For All Above In Gurran".
