When Language Fails is a 30 page, one-shot comic with a completely self-contained story.
It is the story of Adele and Sarah, two estranged sisters who are thrown together on the outbreak of a strange, unknowable war. They must try and repair their relationship, figuring why they have grown apart, and what went wrong, all while trying to survive the war that has erupted on their doorstep.
When Language Fails is about growing up, not fitting in, and family. It is also about war, and violence, and how most of the world lives insulated from these awful realities. It asks what we would do if we were actually faced with violence and war in our own homes.
It is created by writer Colin O' Mahoney and artist Mari Rolin, who have previously collaborated on comic stories for Iron Circus, Limit Break Comics, Chidrawgo, and Romaria.
It's a weird, dark, and funny story with a lot of heart, that will stay with you long after you read it.
