Our warm and cozy Riley beanie hat features a number of Celtic cables which run from the brim to the crown giving the pattern depth and texture. This hat is ideal for Fall/Winter when finished due to the quality, blend and weight of the Irish wool used.
Máirín Ní Dhonnacha is the talented Irish designer behind this hat pattern. Our Riley hat is pictured knitted in the shade Stormy Sky from our Inis collection. The inspiration for this shade come from nature and from Ireland's famously changeable weather - in this case a stormy Winter sky at dusk.
This pattern is ideal for advanced beginners and intermediate level knitters as it uses simple stitch combinations to create this beautiful Celtic cable patterned hat.

Máirín Ní Dhonncha Aran Islands, Ireland
Máirín Ní Dhonncha is a knitter from the Aran Islands, a cluster of three beautifully rugged islands off the west coast of Ireland. Máirín’s designs combine traditional elements of Aran knitting (e.g. cables, latticework) with more modern techniques, such as seamless knitting.
Máirín first learnt to knit when she was about six years old, and at school, she moved on to Aran knitting pretty quickly! She knitted her first Aran jumper while in school and due to the longevity of Irish wool, she's pretty sure it's still around today! The tradition of Aran knitting has been alive on the islands for hundreds of years. Máirín continued to knit over the years as a hobby and also started knitting some items for her cousin to sell on Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands, before designing knitwear patterns professionally.
